The figures in the technical table are those of the series Böckmann Comfort: 2400 kg gross, 978 kg unladen and 1422 kg payload, in a compartment of 3.35 × 1.65 × 2.32 m. They hold as long as the vehicle has not been modified, which is checked on its registration document before purchase. That is the first paper we send you.

At 2400 kg gross, a category B licence is enough provided the towing vehicle does not exceed 1100 kg, since the combination may not pass 3,500 kg. With B96 the vehicle can reach 1850 kg, and with B+E up to 3,500 kg. The figure that counts is in section F.1 of your car's registration document. A second-hand trailer changes nothing here: the licence depends on maximum masses, not on the vehicle's age.
