From three stalls up, the licence changes, the tow vehicle changes and the way you drive changes. This is not a bigger trailer: it is another category of vehicle.
B+E licence, no exceptions
These trailers push the outfit past 3,500 kg in any realistic combination. You need the B+E licence, and the tow vehicle must show a sufficient declared towing capacity on its registration document. That is the first check we run with you before closing an order. Selling a trailer the customer cannot tow serves nobody.
Herringbone loading or straight loading
Herringbone loading (horses travel at an angle) makes better use of the length and spreads the weight over both axles. That is what fits four horses into a little over six metres. Straight loading is easier for the horse to learn and quicker to load when you are in a hurry. Neither is better; it depends on your animals and on who usually does the loading.
Brakes and suspension are not options
With two axles, the most expensive failure is a poorly maintained overrun brake. Every model we list here has automatic-reverse braking and rubber suspension axles, with no leaf springs. The brake check is part of the first ITV, which we book for you.
