New one-horse trailers at Remolque Caballos
A one-horse trailer is not a two-horse trailer with a stall missing. It is a category of its own: shorter, lighter, and designed so the whole outfit stays within the most common driving licence.
Weight decides before price
On an ordinary category B licence you may drive an outfit of up to 3,500 kg, adding the car's gross weight to the trailer's. A single-stall trailer rated 1,000 to 1,300 kg leaves headroom for almost any 4x4. Check box F.1 on your vehicle's registration document before deciding anything. That is the figure that says whether you may drive, and no other number replaces it.
A horse travelling alone rides differently
With no companion alongside, the horse leans on the side walls to balance through bends. That is why serious single-stall trailers have padded support bars at mid height and an interior width greater than the single stall suggests. Be wary of a single-stall trailer that is merely narrow: this is where the difference between a working trailer and a catalogue trailer is paid.
Ramp or step
A full ramp is easier on a young horse and on anyone loading alone. A low step saves weight and length. Both are homologated the same way; the choice is about daily handling, not safety.
