New two-horse trailers at Remolque Caballos
Nine out of ten trailers that leave our warehouse have two stalls. It is the format that covers the club, the weekend show and the trip to the vet without forcing you to change tow car.
Payload, not gross weight
Gross weight is what the loaded outfit weighs; payload is what you can put inside. Two 550 kg riding horses come to 1,100 kg, and to that you add saddles, rugs, buckets and water. Aim for 1,300 kg of payload as a floor. Below that the trailer is still homologated, but you travel at the limit on every trip, and the limit is paid at the Guardia Civil weighbridge.
Polyester, aluminium or mixed
Polyester insulates better against heat and noise and takes a knock without denting; it weighs more. Aluminium saves 80 to 150 kg, which turn straight into payload, but it passes on more heat in summer. The mixed build (galvanised steel chassis and frame, polyester panels) is the compromise that sells most in mainland Spain, and the one that ages best under the southern sun.
What separates an 8,000 € model from a 17,000 € one
It is not the bodywork: it is the suspension, the brake and the ventilation. Top models have independent rubber suspension on each wheel, an overrun brake with automatic reverse, and a raised roof with extractor vents. On short trips the difference is barely noticeable. After four hours of dual carriageway in August, it shows in the horse that steps out.
Every two-stall trailer is delivered with a spare wheel, lashing straps and the complete European type-approval file.
